I am engaged in my first guitar build, a telecaster and I have a few questions for anyone who might help. 1. Size of pilot holes for neck mount. I read somewhere to use the same bit size for both the body and the neck. I did this and ran into the trouble I expected. I can't easily draw the neck down to the body. I assume I should make the holes in the body larger. Correct? 2. Any suggestions for wiring a 4 way switch to a p90 in the neck and a single coil in the bridge. I found plenty of diagrams for 4 switching with 2 single coils. Is there any difference in the schematic if I am including a P90? Thanks in advance for any help! |

1. Yes, correct. The holes in the body must be just large enough to not grab the screw threads. 2. Not sure about a P90, but I thought they were single coils. |

Yes, enlarge the holes to be an easy fit for the screws. this will also allow for adjusting the neck alignment. The P90 should just be a single coil so the 4 way arrangement is the same, but it may have the ground and second coil end wire soldered to the braided shield at the pickup instead of 2 conductors. You would then have to rewire the pickup to have 2 conductors plus earth if you want to use 4 way switching. |
